International Business Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words
International Business - Case Study Example The immediate industry response to deregulation was increased competition in the market as new entrants sought to take advantage of the new investment opportunities. Further, increased competition was perceived as having a negative outcome for the industry particularly as price wars resulted in reduced prices. The low cost of travel, although favorable to consumers, resulted in increased pressures on the bottom lines for the companies operating in the airline industry. Government ownership provided protection and capacity enhancement to national carriers to ensure they offered services in targeted markets. However, this protection from home countries does not exist, which implies the adoption of private arrangement between companies is important for expansion and improvement of quality of services (Forsyth, Button and Nijkamp, 2002). Additionally, global airline networks results in reduction of competition in the market. Strategic alliances between airline companies allow partners to overcome various entry-level restrictions imposed by authorities on markets and routes. Motivation for global is as a result of provisions in Article 1 of the Paris Convention of 1919 which grants power over regulatory activities pertaining to air traffic to authority under which the airspace falls (Cento, 2008). Countries have been granted exclusive power to control airspace to the extent that they see fit depending on their internal perception of issues such as economic contribution and security matters. A sovereign state, therefore, has all the right to decline request for an airline company to operate from their territory. Forming global alliances is an effective strategy for airline companies to overcoming challenges that result from this legal impediment top their operations. Therefore, partners involved in this arrangement will have

Evaluating Advertising Campaign
Evaluating Advertising Campaigns It is through the process of review and evaluation that an organization has the opportunity to learn and develop. In turn, this enables management to refine its competitive position and to provide for higher levels of customer satisfaction. The use of marketing communications is a management activity, one that requires the use of rigorous research and testing procedures in addition to continual evaluation. This is necessary because planned communications involve a wide variety of stakeholders and have the potential to consume a vast amount of resources. The evaluation of planned marketing communications consists of two distinct elements: The first element is concerned with the way the ad communicates. Thus, it deals with the development and testing of individual messages. An advertising message has to achieve, among other things, a balance of emotion and information in order that the communication objectives and message strategy be achieved. To accomplish this, testing is required to ensure that the intended message is encoded correctly and is capable of being decoded accurately by the target audience. This testing could be pre or post testing. The second element concerns the overall impact and effect that a campaign has on sales once a communication plan has been released. This post-test factor is critical, as it will either confirm or reject managementââ¬â¢s judgement about the viability of their communication strategy. THE ROLE OF EVALUATION IN PLANNED COMMUNICATIONS The evaluation process is a key part of marketing communications. The findings and results of the evaluation process feed back into the next campaign and provide indicators and benchmarks for further management decisions. The primary role of evaluating the performance of a communications is to see that the advertising objective has been met and that the strategy has been effective. The secondary role is to ensure that the strategy has been executed efficiently, that the full potential of the individual promotional tools has been extracted and that resources have been used economically. TOO MUCH OR TOO LITTLE? Companies are generally interested in finding whether they are overspending or underspending in advertising. One way to figure that out is to use the formula given below. Share of voice is the companyââ¬â¢s share of advertising expenditure that earns a share of the consumerââ¬â¢s mind, and ultimately the market. Comparing that to market share provides an idea as to the feasibility of the companyââ¬â¢s ad spend. An advertising effectiveness ratio of 1 means an effective level of ad expenditure, while a ratio less than 1 indicates a relatively ineffective advertising level. As can be seen from the above table, firm A spends Rs. 20 lakhs of the total industry expenditure of Rs. 35 lakhs. Thus, its share of voice is 57. 1%. However, its market share is only 40%. So we can say that firm A is either overspending or misspending. Firm B has a market share equal in proportion to its share of voice. It spends effectively on advertising, while firm C is super efficient, and could probably increase expenditures.

Analysis Of The Poem The Wasteland - 1313 Words
T.S Eliotââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"The Wastelandâ⬠is a fragmentary poem written in the early 1900ââ¬â¢s, the poem displays themes of physical existence and the non-existence of a modern life. In fact, which can be seen in the first part of the poem itself, which is broken down into 4 iridescent yet, colorless parts. The Burial of the Dead, Game of Chess, The Fire Sermon, Death by Water and What the Thunder Said; they are all profoundly related they are designed to convey the over arching themes of the poem. It has countless illusions to other things; it is spoken in other languages, past literature, changing speakers and referring to past history; this poem acts as a collage of art. One of the biggest themes this poem touches on is the spiritual malaise of our lives of industry and our surroundings, trying to find our way in the world but falling short; fee ling adrift and also our surroundings and lives not intertwining with each other. Also, modern man is also running behind wordily possessions, he is far away from nature and all of this has happened after industrialization. This materialistic attitude from man has distracted man from real spiritual beauty.
